After arguing with most libertarian conservatives obliquely, I think I’ve finally been able to put my finger on where our values diverge: access to information vs. personal property. I believe that people should have a right to the truth and that right is greater than the right to keep secrets when push comes to shove. Libertarians, by policy, believe the inverse. Your right to keep a secret should exceed anyone’s right to know the truth. I think the world is too small for that kind of thinking, unfortunately. I fear your secrets more than my exposure.
